We had to cut our pigs when we lived on the farm. It's was a pretty straight forward deal but the local Ag teacher at the HS had this deal where he'd put them head-first in a trash can to do it.

Ended up with a baby feral boar. Read the internet on how to castrate, got a scalpel, then did the deed. He made the most noise not on the cut and scape, but on the immobilization before anything happened. You can't think with that amount noise going on and you're holding a sharp object. No wonder they put their head in a can. (Our solution - wrap the muzzle with tube sock. Worked great.)

Before shows we'd load up our pigs and take them to town to wash and clip. Think that same sound in a small metal barn. You had to go outside if you wanted to talk to somebody.
